CS Principles, Pilot Interest

In the academic year 2010-2011 five college/university sites are piloting the CS Principles course. The pilot sites were chosen from those schools represented on the CS Principles Advisory Board.

In the academic year 2011-2012 more schools will be participating in the second phase of the pilot. For some schools we will offer financial support to assist in the pilot, but we hope that many schools will choose to participate in the pilot without financial support, but with access to materials developed to support the course and its delivery.

The second pilot will be open to high schools as well as to four year colleges and unversities. We hope to open the pilot to community colleges as well and actively seek interest from all these types of institutions.

High School Pilot Interest

Thank you for your interest in participating in the 2011-2012 piloting of the College Board Computer Science: Principles Pilot Course. In order to be considered for participation in the pilot, we ask that you complete the High School Institutional Form linked below. This form will provide the Principal Investigators and the College Board with important information that will be used in the selection process including characteristics of your school, your students, and you. The form also provides you with information about the various expectations for piloting the course, and will ask for your agreement regarding those expectations. Please submit the form by March 28, 2011. Final selections will be announced and posted in early May on csprinciples.org.

We understand that the time-frame of early May has implications for schools that are deciding or have already decided on courses for the 2011-2012 academic year. The National Science Foundation and other partners hope to have mechanisms in place to facilitate many pilots and potentially pilot the course in the next academic year if things go as planned. Please feel free to contact Owen Astrachan ola AT cs DOT duke DOT edu (Duke University, co-PI), Amy Briggs briggs AT middlebury DOT edu (Middlebury College, co-PI), or Lien Diaz ldiaz AT collegeboard DOT org (Advanced Placement Program) for more information.
